The aim of the scheme is to enable drivers to gain a fuller understanding of the dangers and potential consequences of failing to comply with an automatic traffic signal, and as a result, change driver behaviour.
Operated in conjunction with Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Safety Camera Partnership, the scheme provides drivers who have 'jumped' a red traffic light in Leicestershire and Rutland with the opportunity to take an offer of an education workshop.
The offer of attending a course is only made for low-level offences. Those who are eligible will receive information on how to book a workshop with their penalty offer from Leicestershire Constabulary.
It costs £90 to attend a workshop and is offered as an alternative to the £60 fine and 3 penalty points.
